Acas (Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service) aims to improve working life through better employment relations. We have over 30 years experience of working with people in businesses of every size and sector.

We are publicly funded and are independent, impartial and confidential. We are governed by a council made up of leading figures from business, trade unions, independent sectors and academics.

Acas provides information, advice, training and a range of services to employers and employees to prevent and resolve problems and improve workplace performance. We aim to make workplaces more effective and productive – from providing straightforward advice to change management projects. As recognized experts in employment relations, our business support services can add value to bottom line business performance.

We have packages especially designed for small and medium sized businesses whose performance has a significant influence on the success of the region’s economy.

Key Regional Activities

Acas provide a variety of training courses and business solutions to suit a wide range of organisational and people management needs.

Each of our training sessions is delivered by Acas trainers whose experience and expertise of the workplace is geared towards providing down-to-earth advice and practical solutions.

Our training sessions are kept to small groups which allow delegates to discuss issues with the trainers, interact and share experiences with delegates from other organisations.

 Employment Relations Forums in the North West

These popular networking meetings are held twice a year in Cumbria, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire, and Greater Manchester. Acas, working in partnership with employers, leading solicitors, universities, Local Enterprise Partnerships, Chambers of Commerce and the TUC keep you up to date with key employment relations issues and their impact on business performance, providing an opportunity to discuss and share good practice and mutual concerns.

Topics covered at recent meetings include Employee Engagement, Social Networking, Managing Change, Health and wellbeing at work, Mediation in workplace disputes and Managing through the economic downturn.

We also have a group on the business network site Linkedin,to allow members to keep in touch between meetings.

Simply get in touch and we’ll provide you with clear and confidential guidance about any kind of dispute or query that you have about relationship issues within the workplace. Resolving disputes
Acas’ extensive knowledge and experience comes from our day-to-day work with managers, HR professionals, employees and their representatives in workplaces of every shape and size.

Our national and regional advisers use this experience to help organisations to solve problems when things go wrong.

We offer an independent and trusted service for dealing with disputes between groups of workers, their representatives and their employers. We also deal with disputes where individuals claim their employer has denied them a legal right.
