7 Days beginning Monday 31st October 2011

M67 Junctions 1 – 4, Tameside
Overnight work to resurface sections of the M67 in Tameside is due to start on Tuesday 1 November. The project will also include new road markings and road studs, will be done in phases moving along the main carriageway and some slip roads between Junction 1, where the motorway meets the M60, and Junction 4 at Mottram. It is scheduled to be completed by Wednesday 30 November. All the work is being confined to overnight periods between 10pm and 6am each night. It includes full overnight closures, but in some cases the hard shoulder will be open with a 50mph speed limit in place. When carriageways are fully-closed, signed diversions will be in place.

M6, Penrith
Work to repair bridges carrying the A6 over the M6 near Penrith is due to start on Thursday 3 November. The two bridges, which are close to each other near the villages of Lowther and Hackthorpe, are about three and five miles south of Penrith between Junction 39 of the motorway at Shap and Junction 40 at Penrith. All the work is due to be completed by Wednesday 30 November, and will require lane closures on the M6 in both directions over about 2.5 miles. The project will begin with hard shoulder and lane one closures around the clock, and lane one and lane two closures overnight. A second phase involves lane three closures throughout the day and lane two and lane three closures overnight. A 50mph speed limit will be in place through the work.

Work to improve drainage and resurface a section of the A595 south of Whitehaven in Cumbria is due to begin on Monday 31 October. A 50mph speed limit will be in place through the traffic management cones and, at times, there will be a 10mph speed limit past the actual work with some queuing at temporary traffic lights. To minimise inconvenience to road users, no work will be done during peak hours with overnight working between 8pm and 6am, and off-peak daytime working between 9.30pm and 3.30pm. A joint scheme with Cheshire West and Chester Council to install traffic signals at the roundabout, renew road markings and carry out resurfacing is expected to run until Monday 14 November. Work is being restricted to overnights during weekdays, between 10pm and 5am. A programme of closures includes access onto the roundabout from the A51 and A55 exit slip roads, with clearly-signed diversions in place.

M53 Junctions 4 – 9, Wirral
There are four miles of roadworks running from south of Junction 4 at Bebington to just beyond Junction 9 at Ellesmere Port. A 50mph speed limit is in place on all lanes while essential bridge repairs are carried out on the Eastham Viaduct at Junction 5, and safety work, including a new barrier, takes place between Junctions 8 and 9 at Ellesmere Port. The work requires occasional lane closures and periods of contraflow. Alternate overnight carriageway closures will be in place for short periods during the middle and end of the scheme for the installation and removal of traffic management equipment. Clearly signed diversions will be in place at all times. Work on the bridge is due to end on Tuesday 9 November, and work between Junctions 8 and 9 is due for completion by Thursday 15 December.
