nwda_colour2In response to the Government’s Local Growth White Paper and the creation of LEPs, Robert Hough, Chairman of the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA), said:

“The NWDA welcomes the news from Government that the Northwest has secured four Local Enterprise Partnership’s (LEPs) and remains committed to working with local authority and business partners to assist the development of these new LEPs and their plans.

“Our congratulations go to our partners in Greater Manchester, Liverpool City Region, Cumbria and Cheshire and Warrington for their hard work and focused efforts in compiling their strong LEP bids. We hope that Local Authorities and business partners in Lancashire can come together to ensure they are not left behind and can form a strong LEP as soon as possible.

“The White Paper sets out the Government’s vision for a new approach to local growth in England and the NWDA will support this process to ensure England’s Northwest and our economy continues to grow. We will now work with our partners and ensure a smooth and orderly transition of our work to the new LEP functions.

“The NWDA has highly skilled and knowledgeable people to help the transition process, staff who remain fully committed to delivering remaining RDA business through to closure in March 2012.”
