wh_lab_1Liverpool Science Centre (LSC) sited on Southern Gateway was built as a research inhalation facility by GSK (Glaxo Smith Kline).  The site was subsequently acquired by Gresham House PLC who have agreed to invest in the site creating Liverpool Science Centre focused on providing specialised clean room and laboratory facilities for the Science Sector in the UK’s North West Region, Southern Gateway is close to leading R&D Companies, Universities, Liverpool Science and Innovation Parks, the National Blood Service centre and National Biomanufacturing Centre.

clean_roomLSC will offer to potential clients fully serviced high quality ‘clean rooms‘ and/or laboratory space together with associated support and office areas for short and long term periods, all within a landscaped secure environment with 24 hour security and parking.

LSC will offer generic facilities to companies with the option for agreed client customisation to meet their business needs. The base generic design of LSC is capable of configuration from a clean room environment through to a generic bioscience areas capable of meeting cat 2 GMO regulations, it is able to provide generic wet chemistry or biochemistry facilities, start up and ‘grow on’ research and manufacturing space for companies engaged in biomed, biotech, science based activities and other sectors that require clean room technology for their operations.

LSC FrontageThe building will meet all minimum guidelines and standards as is required to support all the industry sectors highlighted above both from a design and operational perspective.

The development of LSC will deliver a high quality science building from an occupant perspective that will support their businesses in terms of image, brand and associated FM management services supplied by a specialist management and FM operational team.

LSC goals

The key aims of Liverpool Science Centre is to offer a facility within the North West region that:

  • Fosters close links with North West Science activities and specifically within the Liverpool region to participate in the scientific community activities.
  • Supports R&D companies in their various stages of development – start-up, growth, research and manufacturing – and to enable them to deliver their goals and associated activities in high quality facilities.
  • Is a dynamic recognized centre of excellence that offers commercially viable solutions to companies located in or looking to locate within the North West UK.

Building use – the use of the building will be limited to:

  • Scientific research and development associated with industrial production
  • Light industrial production under consultation with the management team of LSC
  • Scientific research associated or linked with Universities, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, biomedical, clean tech science, or activities associated with supporting these types of industries.

All occupants will be managed by a management team who will ensure compliance with the building operational processes and safe ways of working together with regulatory compliance and working in a mixed use environment ensuring there is no risk of cross contamination to other occupants in the building.

Established as a company in 1857 it is an Investment Trust and as such the Company invests in securities for the long term and is obliged to distribute the majority of its investment income by way of a dividend. The Groups overall objective is to provide shareholders with long term capital and income growth. The Company operates at the Speke Site under one of its subsidiaries New Capital Developments.

ScienceGen’s initial involvement with Gresham House was to determine if the GSK building could be refurbished to meet current regulatory compliance.

ScienceGen’s current engagement on the project is to act as as technical support and to lead the marketing and promotion of the facility supporting Gresham House
