Modern Working Relations (North West Employment Relations Forum)

Delegates at North West Employment Forum

The North West Employment Relations Forum (NWERF) was launched in 2001 as a key strategic initiative to promote employment relations good practice and partnership in the workplace as key drivers of productivity, competitiveness and sustainable business development.

The Forum steering group comprises representatives from Acas, North West TUC, CBI, Cobbetts Solicitors, Engineering Employers Federation NW, Federation of Small Businesses, Government Office NW, Job Centre Plus, NW Chambers of Commerce, NW Regional Development Agency, and the Universities of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores, Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan Business School.

The Forum seeks to raise the profile of the importance of workplace effectiveness in the success of the Region’s economy and, through the influence of key economic and social partners and employers, inform the Regional and Sub Regional economic and skills strategies.

It brings together a unique mix of high profile economic and social partners with key employers to discuss the current issues, invite contributions through informal debate, influence thinking on a regional and national level and the dissemination of good practice. This is underpinned by research on employment issues and their impact on work organisation and workplace effectiveness.

The steering group meets at regularly throughout the year and is the strategic driver of the Forum initiative. Forum events are held twice a year, often in collaboration with other key initiatives, to which the employers and organisations are invited to join in the discussions and contribute their views to the current issues.
